Disciplinary Proceedings Brought By the National Competition Commission Against Agricultural Associations in Almería

14 April 2010

The Investigations Division of the National Competition Commission (known by the Spanish acronym CNC) has brought disciplinary proceedings against various agricultural associations (Asociación Agraria de Jóvenes Agricultores, Coordinara de Organizaciones de Agricultores y Ganaderos as well as the Asociación de Comercializadores Alhonguistas de Frutas y Hortalizas of Andalucía) due to allegations of anti-competition behaviour based on various meetings which were held with the aim of fixing minimum prices in the horticultural sector as well as the creation of a working group which would regulate price variations.

The press first informed of the aforementioned actions in December of 2009.

The CNC now has up to 18 months to investigate the case and issue a ruling.
